Roxbury High School’s Marching Gaels place 2nd at NJMBDA State Championship

ROXBURY, NJ (November 8, 2022) – The Roxbury Marching Gaels performed its 2022 competitive show Toxic for the final time in TCNJ’s stadium on Sunday, October 30th, placing second by an extremely slim margin of two-tenths of a point.

In addition, the Marching Gaels won awards for Best Music and Best Visual in its class. The Gaels were in competition with 11 other bands from across the state, all there to participate in the annual State Championships held by the New Jersey Marching Band Directors Association.

The Marching Gaels, led by Drum Majors Sean Feeney and Mikayla Provenzano, were coming into States undefeated this season and put on a show that did not disappoint. Their production featuring the Rick and Morty Themesong by Ryan Elder, Toxic by Britney Spears, and Radioactive by Imagine Dragons, got the crowd moving with their toxic dance break, and cheering loud as the band went radioactive by turning neon green to end the show!

“It has been an extremely rewarding season for all involved,” says Marching Gaels Director Ryan Sweer. “The students consistently pushed themselves to new limits and found ways to perform with both a commitment to excellence and to each other that truly embodied our mantra of One Band, One Family. The heartfelt reactions and interactions of the students as they left the field having just thrown down their best version of the show is not something I will ever forget.”

Congratulations to the Marching Gaels on the completion of yet another successful season!
