Field Hockey Clinic (Grades 4-7)

This camp is designed to introduce field hockey players to the fundamentals of the game through basic skill sessions and fun, competitive game play! Week one consists mostly of the fundamentals of field hockey - stick skills, elimination and defensive skills. Week two will be an opportunity to apply those skills into games! Players will be grouped according to their ages, and games will be played in either 5v5 or 7v7 small fields. Come improve your field hockey skills and/or learn the game of field hockey. All levels of experience are welcome!

Participants will need a Field Hockey Stick, Shin Guards (socks to go over shin guards), a mouth guard, goggles (optional), and a water bottle. Participants can find this equipment at Dick's Sporting Goods or Longstreth.

This program is open to Roxbury and non-Roxbury residents currently enrolled in grades 4-7 as of the 2023/24 school year).

This clinic needs a minimum of 10 students in order to run.

Registration deadline is Friday, May 31, 2024.

LOCATION: Lincoln/Roosevelt School (34 North Hillside Avenue, Succasunna, NJ) - Turf Field

COST: $150 per participant 

INSTRUCTORS: 

• Coach Karisa Brown - Coach Brown is going into her second year as assistant field hockey coach at Roxbury High School. She previously co-coached field hockey at EMS for two seasons. She also coaches for Centercourt Field Hockey club in the winter and spring. Her playing experience includes being an East Stroudsburg Field Hockey Alum, 2015 National Champion, 2016 NCAA Tournament, 2017 NCAA Semi-Finalist, and a 2018 NCAA National Runner-Up. Coach Brown loves the sport and hopes that all young women in the community of Roxbury try the sport of field hockey!
• Coach Kate Norgard - Coach Norgard is going into her second year as Roxbury High School head field hockey coach. She is also a Centercourt Club Field Hockey instructor and has coached field hockey for 10 years as an assistant coach for Roxbury and West Morris Central High School. She played collegiate field hockey for Montclair State University, where her team placed national runners-up in the 2012 NCAA tournament. Coach Norgard earned All-American, all-conference, and all-regional honors, as well as the NJAC attacker of the year during the 2012 season. She is passionate about growing the game of field hockey and sharing her love of the game with Roxbury girls!
• Coach Samantha Darling - Coach Darling has been coaching Field Hockey at Eisenhower Middle School for the past three seasons. Prior to coaching at EMS, she was a volunteer to the High School Field Hockey program for two years. She played field hockey for seven years and loves to spread her passion for the game. Coach Darling loves to coach youth sports, where she can teach players the game and, most importantly, enjoy doing it. It doesn't matter your skill level, we are here to teach you the game. Let's have some fun!

The Roxbury Community School is self-sufficient and a course/program must pay for itself. If there are not enough registrants, the course/program will be canceled. The Coordinator reserves the right to remove from class those individuals who have not paid tuition.

There are no refunds for courses/camps AFTER the program starts. All cancellations must be received in writing to comschool@roxbury.org at least seven days prior to the start of the class for a refund. After that date, there will be no refunds.
