Ms. Kousoulis

My name is Ms. Patti Kousoulis and I am delighted to join Nixon Elementary School as your new school counselor. As we get to know one another, allow me to share information about myself and my professional background. In 2012, I received my Master of Arts in School Counseling and EdS in Professional Counseling at Seton Hall University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) as well as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Disaster Response Crisis Counselor (DRCC). I have worked in a variety of clinical and administrative mental health roles overseeing residential, outpatient, community, and crisis settings such as Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (CMRSS). I also  earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 2016 to further enhance my strategic thinking skills and abilities.

Outside of the academic environment, I enjoy crocheting and bird watching. I have four birds of my own, one of them is a green Amazon parrot named Lucy who says phrases such as "hello pretty girl" and "what are you doing?" I lived at the beach for the last eight years and recently moved back to the area to be near my two older sister's and return to the area where I grew up. It is a pleasure to meet all of you, and I am truly excited to work together to support your child’s academic, social, and emotional growth throughout their time here.

As a school counselor, my role is to create a nurturing environment where every student feels valued and supported. I am here to partner with you in ensuring that your child not only succeeds in their studies but also thrives in their overall well-being. Whether your child is navigating challenges, seeking guidance, or simply exploring their interests, my door is always open.

I believe that effective communication between home and school is essential for fostering a positive and supportive learning experience. I encourage you to reach out with any questions, concerns, or insights you have about your child. Together, we can create a plan that best supports their needs and helps them achieve their fullest potential.

I look forward to meeting each of you and working collaboratively to make this school year a successful and fulfilling experience for your child.

Warm regards,

Ms. Patti Kousoulis
