Instructional Technology Mission Statement

  • Roxbury Public Schools strives to provide equitable access to dynamic instructional technology that serves as a bridge between our learning community and the information and skills necessary for success in a diverse and ever-changing world.  Roxbury Public Schools adopts the Universal Design for Learning approach to curriculum design in conjunction with the SAMR model of technology implementation, recognizing instructional technology increases the likelihood that students, staff, and community have access to multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression. This philosophy allows our community to explore opportunities to influence and understand themselves and others.

To achieve this mission, the Roxbury Public School district focuses on four fundamental themes:

    • Flexibility - Flexibility is individualizing the learning experience through choice; different options allow members of the learning community to use platforms in which they may be comfortable and successful.
    • Access - Equitable access requires connectivity and resources for all members of the learning community. This includes ADA compliance, network access, personal device allowance, and reasonable accommodations.
    • Instructional Supports - Professional development and instructional applications empower teachers to make pedagogically sound decisions in regards to appropriate, relevant tools to support the pursuit of teaching and learning.
    • Security/Safety - The learning community is informed and trained on appropriate behavior according to the AUP, as well as student digital citizenship training.  Infrastructure in the Roxbury Public Schools works to ensure the safety and security of our network and overall learning community.
