Ms. Amy Gallagher

Work Experience:  I joined the Roxbury School District in 2018 as the Director of Special Services.  Prior to my experience in Roxbury, I was the Director of Special Services and Counseling for the Franklin Lakes School District and the Supervisor of Secondary Special Services for Millburn Township Public Schools.  I spent ten years teaching middle and high school general and special education math and science throughout the spectrum of classroom environments including self-contained and resource rooms.

Philosophy:  All students deserve to have the opportunity to learn in an appropriate environment in order to reach their fullest potential and our most important obligation as educators is to advocate for our student's best interests.  Neurodiversity is a gift to be celebrated and fostered in order to build a more inclusive world. With these goals in mind, we provide a wide variety of programs and supports to ensure that we are able to meet the varying needs of our students within our community.  We provide research-based instruction and support professional development to ensure our staff is on the cutting edge of best practices in specialized education.

Who I Am:  In addition to my passion for education, I am most proud of my family.  I have three children in varying stages of their educational careers, which has given me a great perspective being on the parent side of the school/home relationship.  I am an avid reader and enjoy a good road trip to relax and have balance in my life.
